Being Dufay
Being Dufay is composer Ambrose Field’s electronic exploration of vocal fragments by the Renaissance composer Guillaume Dufay (1397-14740, sung by the tenor John Potter accompanied by video from Michael Lynch. It combines early music with some of today’s advanced digital techniques to create a lush, harmonic sound world.
Ambrose Field's music combines human performance and digital technology, crossing style and genres, with his unusual, cinematic approach to source material. With his work lauded at the Prix Ars Electronica, he has had a number of works broadcast by the BBC and gained international renown for the Worldscape Laptop Orchestra, an ensemble of 50 musicians exploring the creative possibilities of large-scale digital technology.
John Potter is a former member of the Hilliard Ensemble and sang on the million-selling Officium album with saxophonist Jan Garbarek for ECM, and has since gone on to make three CDs for the label as soloist with his own group, the Dowland Project.
